Knives Out Charcuterie / Cheese Board

There is such inherent beauty in sharp knives and scissors. They gleam and shine and beckon like jewellery on a perfectly set table. I started developing this design by considering a wide range of knives, knife sets, butcher knives, scissors, switchblades and daggers. I drew images and experimented with their size and placement, looking for the perfect combination that felt visually balanced while maintaining the sense of relative scale of each separate piece. I made many different versions of this design playing with the addition and subtraction of text.

This handmade and hand painted ceramic platter is as durable and functional as it is striking. It is designed to be used with cheese or charcuterie or can enliven and contain a collection of pretty and useful things. This unique design makes a special statement about finding beauty in utility with a sharp hint of danger.
